As an English student, you should have a dictionary with you when you are writing.
When you are online, dictionary.com is a useful reference. When you are using it, just be aware that it has American spelling and pronunciation, and sometimes this how we do things in Australian English.
There are some really good dictionaries that you can keep on your phone or iPod. In many cases, these are even better than a paper dictionary that you could get for the same price.
