This task is due next Tuesday. The date then is August 18th, 2009
Retell a section of Raymond Carver’s story So Much Water So Close to Home.
Instead of being Claire’s story, your version will be Stuart’s story.
It must be between 600 and 800 words long. Do not make it either shorter or longer.
Write this neatly on loose paper.
I will not give everyone time in class to type this. It does not need to be typed. Neat writing is just fine.
This is as assessment piece. Please make sure that it is your best writing. Carefully check all your spelling and grammar.

In class you all picked a photo or drawing from a newspaper article.
The aim was the write a detailed description of this image that you could use to explain it to someone who could not see it.
Here are some of the things you might describe about the photo.
Who? What is the gender, age, height, colouring, height etc of any people in the photo.
Where? Where is this image taken? Is it on the street, the beach, in the sky, in a pool, in the ocean, or somewhere else?
Colours? What are the key or striking colours in this image? Or it is black and white or washed out?
What size are things? Are they especially big or small?
How many? Can you see one person or one hundred?
Mood? Is the photo exciting, cheerful, bleak?
What is the focus? Are some elements in focus and others out of focus? Even if everything is in focus what is the subject or point of the image?
Arrangement? How are things placed? Are they in a bunch or a row or a circle or scattered.
Finally write this into an engaging and interesting description of the photo. Pick up the key points and paint a picture in the mind of your reader.
Please post your finished work to the forum by Wednesday May 14.
