TV, MASH and Precis

Today in Up and Running, we watched an episode of MASH, Major Fred C Dobbs, and then wrote a half-page precis. Most of the summaries that students wrote covered the major points of the plot. The stronger efforts captured the mood and tone of the episode, too.

We have a new edition of Red Space, Green Magazine out, and I’d encourage you to have a look at this week’s articles. There are some really interesting and entertaining pieces in there.

I’ll highlight a few stories that I particularly liked, but I’ll start with this book review.

Red Space, Green Magazine » Book Review: Marley and Me, By John Grogan

Marley and Me is an Autobiography about the life of John and Jenny Grogan, an American couple who are journalists for a local newspaper. John and Jenny are young and just married and don’t have a care in the world, until the day they decide to buy a puppy. They pick out a Labrador retriever puppy they call Marley, and who would be classed as the world’s worst dog.

New Edition: Red, Space, Red

We have a new edition of Red, Space, Red out today. I wanted to share this article. I expected many of the technology articles to be about iPods and YouTube. This one takes a much more human dimension.

For years, diabetics have had to put up with sticking needles in themselves, often two-to-four times a day, for most of their lives. But in the last few years, scientists have made an insulin pump that automatically injects insulin into your system every three minutes.
