Since I am not teaching at the moment I really don’t have much to say here. I am collecting a few resources for next year but nothing worth writing about.
However I thought I’d state the obvious (that this site is quiet) since my stats page shows a handful of visitors every day.

I have been thinking a bit about water restrictions especially now that we are about to move into Stage Three which will see an end to washing cars and lots of other uses that have been common for so long.
There’s an article in the paper about which businesses suffer and benefit from the restrictions.
Just the other day we bought some used wheely bins to help us recycle bins and the men at the shop said they are selling heaps of bins to people for this very purpose. Real water tanks are in big demand and you have to wait for month so other businesses and products are getting attention.
I wonder what we will think of as normal water use in just ten more years. Perhaps this change in attitudes to water use will stick. I guess time will tell.

I just discovered The Australian Dictionary of Biography online which is published by the Australian National University.
While there is mountains of information available online sadly it can be harder to find good information about Australians. This site seems an excellent resources especially for History topics.
I even found an O’Meara although I am pretty sure he is no direct relation.
O’MEARA, MARTIN (1885-1935), sleeper-cutter and soldier, was born on 6 November 1885 in the parish of Lorrha, Tipperary, Ireland, son of Michael O’Meara, labourer, and his wife Margaret, née Connor. He arrived in Western Australia as a youth, having worked his passage as a stoker.
